Situated outside of Christiana, at the Beefmaster feedlot, is the Kromellenboog Combined School. This school boasts with an exceptional track record and is growing stronger each year. The van Reenen family has through generations recognized and acknowledged the importance of education.
The school participates in various activities associated with the relevant learning curriculum.
The Agricultural school at Beefmaster is funded by government and various government support structures assist with the growth of the school. A hydroponic tunnel system at the school serves as a training facility for the pupils. Produce from these tunnels is used in a feeding program which provides the children with a healthy daily meal. Money from the sale of excess produce is used to fund other school projects. Harvest time provides new job opportunities for the parents of the school children. Water and soil for the tunnels are provided free of charge by Beefmaster, and we are also responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the facility.
Through this school, the children of Beefmaster employees gain access to high-quality education without the additional burden of transport or accommodation expenses.
Beefmaster also provides crèche currently catering to 35 children. The crèche provides the Beefmaster employees with a safe environment in which to leave their small children during the working day.
