Christiana, South Africa – July 2025 In support of South Africa’s Corporate Wellness Week (1–7 July), Beefmaster Group, one of South Africa’s leading beef producers, hosted a two-day Employee Wellness Event at its Christiana feedlot from 2 to 3 July 2025. The initiative reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to employee health and wellbeing, providing access to vital wellness, financial, and social services.

Promoting Holistic Employee Wellbeing in the Workplace

“As a company, we believe that our employees are our number one asset,” says Cindy Nkgoeng, Group HR Manager at Beefmaster Group. “Promoting wellbeing means supporting all aspects of health – physical, mental, financial, and emotional.”

Beefmaster’s Workplace Wellness Event aligned with the national Corporate Wellness Week campaign, which encourages employers to invest in the holistic health of their workforce. The event offered a comprehensive programme to help employees and their families live healthier, happier lives.

Health Screenings, Financial Support, and Wellness Education

The event provided employees with access to:

  • Free health screenings for diabetes, cholesterol, HIV, TB, and other common conditions
  • Mental health awareness sessions and support resources
  • Financial literacy education and tax advisory services
  • Employee rights and labour law information
  • Domestic violence and substance abuse prevention workshops

Government departments and partner organisations – including the Department of Health, SARS, Sanlam, Department of Labour and Employment, Department of Home Affairs, and Department of Social Development – were on-site to provide services, such as ID and passport applications, tax consultations, and social support.

Making Wellness Accessible for Every Employee

“Our team works incredibly hard, and it’s not always easy for them to prioritise their health,” Nkgoeng explains. “That’s why initiatives like this matter – they remove the barriers by bringing essential services directly to the workplace.”

The event focused not only on physical wellbeing but also on mental and social support, addressing key issues like men’s health, domestic safety, and emotional resilience.

Building Healthier Communities Through Employee Support

“At Beefmaster, we believe in supporting the whole person,” says Nkgoeng. “When we invest in employee wellbeing, we’re also uplifting their families and communities. The knowledge and resources shared here can have a lasting impact beyond the workplace.”

By collaborating with multiple stakeholders, the event reinforced Beefmaster’s core value that people matter. The group remains dedicated to fostering a workplace culture where employees feel valued, supported, and empowered.
