December 2025 – Beefmaster Group, one of Kimberley’s largest private employers, has made a significant contribution to community upliftment by supporting more than 25 organisations across the Northern Cape, North West and Free State during its 2024/25 financial year.

As part of its social responsibility initiatives, the company also served more than 25,000 meals through feeding schemes and its own soup kitchen, helping to combat hunger and food insecurity in vulnerable communities.

Beefmaster Group’s Commitment to Community Development

According to Cindy Nkgoeng, HR Manager at Beefmaster Group, the company’s community investment strategy is deeply rooted in its values and long-term vision.

“Our success means very little if it doesn’t translate into hope, opportunity and stability for the people around us. When communities are stronger, safer and healthier, everyone benefits – including our business,” says Nkgoeng.

At the core of Beefmaster Group’s philosophy is the belief that business sustainability and community well-being are inseparable.

“We believe in giving back in a responsible and meaningful manner. Business growth must happen alongside real community impact that improves the lives and opportunities of our people and their families for generations to come,” she adds.

Supporting Feeding Schemes, Shelters and Care Facilities

From Kimberley to Warrenton, Christiana and Bloemfontein, Beefmaster Group’s community outreach has supported a wide range of organisations, including:

  • Feeding schemes and soup kitchens
  • Old age homes
  • Community shelters
  • Children’s homes
  • Faith-based and development organisations

In Kimberley, the company supported nine organisations, including community shelters, outreach centres and faith-based initiatives such as Yonder, Destiny House and Huis van Genade.

An additional seven feeding schemes and soup kitchens received ongoing assistance, ensuring access to warm meals for vulnerable families and elderly residents throughout the year.

In Warrenton, Christiana and Bloemfontein, Beefmaster Group extended its support to organisations such as Heil Lof Senter, Edith Smith Ouetehuis, Mooihawe, CHOC and St Nicholas, contributing to welfare programmes, care facilities and community development initiatives.

Beefmaster’s Soup Kitchen: 25,000 Meals Served

Beyond external partnerships, Beefmaster Group operates its own dedicated soup kitchen, which continues to serve as a critical lifeline for households experiencing food insecurity.

During the 2024/25 financial year, the soup kitchen served more than 25,000 meals, directly addressing hunger in the communities where the company operates.

Collectively, Beefmaster Group’s community initiatives represent an investment exceeding R1 million into impoverished and vulnerable communities.

Partnerships that Raise Awareness and Drive Action

Beefmaster Group also partners with media and community organisations to raise awareness around key social causes. In collaboration with OFM, the company supported initiatives such as the popular Bowling for Boobies campaign, held annually in October to promote breast cancer awareness.

The company contributed steaks and iBeef vouchers as prizes and encouraged local businesses to participate in support of CANSA, reinforcing the importance of collective community action.

A Broad and Inclusive Approach to Social Upliftment

Nkgoeng explains that Beefmaster Group’s approach recognises the complex and layered needs within communities.

“We support feeding schemes because hunger is immediate and real, and we invest in old age homes because our elders deserve dignity and care. By backing shelters and development centres, we help create safe spaces, skills and support systems needed for lasting social upliftment,” she says.

“Every organisation we partner with plays a vital role in strengthening the social fabric around us.”

A Message of Gratitude

As the festive season approaches, Beefmaster Group extends its sincere gratitude to the organisations and communities it works alongside.

“Giving is not only about intention – it is about impact. We are grateful for the opportunity to have made a meaningful difference across so many organisations this past year,” Nkgoeng concludes.

“This season, we would like to thank our communities and partners for the vital work they do every day to build a better society.”
