JOB PURPOSE:
The main purpose of this position is to take responsibility for the maintenance of the farm and the feedlot’s infrastructure as well as the management of earth moving equipment.

The ideal candidate must meet the following:

REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least four years’ experience in farming related activities.
  • Extensive repair and maintenance knowledge of farm equipment and infrastructure.
  • Must have general knowledge of Tractors and Earth moving equipment.
  • Must be able to lead a team of workers.
  • Must have knowledge of fencing.
  • Must have knowledge of concrete and building work.
  • Computer literate.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Manage maintenance activities such as:
    • Planning
    • Job Cards
    • Time management
    • Maintenance personnel management
    • Sub-contracting management
  • Quality Control.
  • Adherence to System Safety policies and procedures.


RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Day-to-day maintenance of the feedlot section.

  • Eliminate potential delays through planning and coordination of labour, parts, material and equipment access.
  • Job knowledge regarding what needs to be done, required labour hours, etc.
  • Coordinate equipment downtime.
  • Ongoing planning and annual shutdown maintenance.
  • Influence a positive workforce environment by following safety policies and modelling safe work practices.
  • Manage personnel effectively by applying discipline, managing overtime, and work performance.
  • Follow safety and health standards.
  • Any other duties that may be delegated by line management with the purpose of meeting the feedlot maintenance objectives.
